Day 2 at wayanad :)
Ok, So day 2 at wayanad was pretty enthralling too!
In that isolated weird place, we visit an equally deserted place called the
'the soochippara waterfalls'.. we took some bus which dropped us at some place X (I forgot its name) From there, we were supposed to walk down some huge distance to reach the waterfall place.. The roads were kinda funny with an uphill-downhill, bent-not bent kinda structure! it was slightly uncomfortable walking down those roads! But we were as usual having helluva fun - clicking pictures, talking.. looking around.. it was nice.
So, we are both goin down.. and we suddenly notice this unconstructed hut in the otherwise deserted area...So, we stopped by and asked them how far the waterfalls were.. that chap smiled at us, and told us some phone number in malayalam - and asked us to call at tht no. incase we needed help! :D. The number was - randae puujyamm muunnae onnae naalae ezhae!
We walked and walked.. and walked.. in the sun, and finally reached the place after some 1.5 hours.. Here we met one cucmber man.. and since we were running out of water, we did some bit of time pass at his place.. eating cucumbers, raw mango and pineapple :)
We had to trek down a lil to finally reach the much coveted waterfalls..
Now, I was one of those utterly unfortunate people, who hv never seen a waterfall in their whole life! So for me, even a small stream of water falling from somewhere is quite a sight! In such a situation, when I saw soochipaara (which Laina kept saying was like an ant infront of other Kerala falls) I almost fainted!!
I was so thrilled, its beyond words!! If you look at it, it is simple water falling in an uneven fashion coz its got nothing better to do! But the bloody kick tht you get sitting under one such thing is amazing!
So, we both are just sitting around.. under the waterfall..and thanking the
Lords for the serene silent place..and thats when we notice a huge gang..
and someone waving at me ridiculously! I was like - eh? who the hell is
tht??
And guess what! Tht was Rachit!!! Good lords! We studied in school together and I hadnt met him for abt an year now. Had no idea where he was and this was one phenomenally surprising place to bump into each other!! :)
I was thrilled to see him.. He'd come there with his office gang.. for team
outing..
Laina and me then decided to join their gang.. considering we werent too keen on walking back 10 kms again for the bus stop! In their gang there was some chap who was Laina's college senior..Suraj's batch.. and so it was overall not so bad!
We all went for lunch.. where we heard interesting stories abt Renjith J! Apparently, he was part of the team , but cudnt come coz he was ill.. Next on the list was this place called eddakal caves.
Man! The trek-cum-rock climbing route to Edakkal caves was no less than a road to perdition! It was very steep! And I was bloody tired! You step on from one rock to another which would be some 4 feet high! You cannot stop and gasp for breath.. coz theres no place to stand.. you cannot go down, coz people are coming behind you,, You cannot go further up coz you'd run out of all the oxygen reserves!! It was hell! really! As in, I generally dont run outta stamina.. but while we were just nearing the peak .. I almost had a black-out, and I was sure, tht if I was destined to accidental death , this will be it. :D . And the worst part was that since you can see the peak when you lift your head, you cannot step back! Theres tht motivation.. that yeah, I gotta reach there!
But, finally, we did reach the peak, after tht horrible trek of abt 2 hours!
ALl of us sat around,,and talked.. then trekking down was fun.. it took us half the time..
We had to now get back to our hotel.. coz it was getting dark..
So we say a Bye to these guys..and decide to walk down..
we walk.. walk.. walk.. but not a sign of any bus stop.. it was getting dark.. and the road dint seem to end.. Tht was the first time we got a bit scared,, and both of us looked at each other with apprehension..tht what the hell we are doin! It was dead silent, and huge trees on either side of the road was like an icing to the deadly road!
Damn! We walked and walked.. and then we saw this jeep in the middle of the road..
There were two men and two kids sitting in tht jeep.. We sure hesitated for a while.. coz they looked the slimiest of men, Ever! But we dint hv an option.. and asked them where was the bus stop and more importantly, if we wud get a bus from there to sultan bathery.
They looked at us, and said, they cud drop us at the kalpetta-sultan bathery junction, considering they were going in the same direction..
Laina and me looked at each other.. I was very very skeptical.. and was about to say "No thanks".. When I saw Laina, getting into the jeep..
Hehe! Tht kinda rocked!! You know sometimes, in life you are looking for tht unsaid affirmation.. and its nice when you get it.. :)
So this chap dropped us half way and refused to take any money from us. He just insisted, tht we should tk care and get back safe..
From there some kind lady told us how to get a bus to kalpetta..the bus conductor was another dude! He looked like some university professor.. with a crisp check shirt.. neatly tucked in.. and wearing glasses.. and talking in full english accent! He really looked like the kinds who'd just tell you to take out ur books and start taking notes! :D
We got back to the hotel safely.. and our bus was at midnight.. The hotel man sent the security with us, to make sure we boarded safely.. The bus was 45 min late.. and tht security chap(an old man) stood there with us all throughout..
Overall, the experience was nice.. just very nice.
It does get unbelievable at times, when you look at all the niceness of the people.. But I have always believed, tht you get what you give. And there is always a certain amount of trust tht one should and one must imbibe in the other person.. theres no point living in a cocoon.. If you're wrong in yer judgement of the person, it'll hit you back - thts 4 sure. But then it'll only make you strong..Its not wrong..
Its always good to learn the hard way.. :)
*sigh* I promise not to write such a long post again!! :)
