The Painter & the Gold Fish

First, a little story.
Once there was a gold fish. She lived in a glass jar, kept in the corner of the room of a painter.

The painter was a maverick. In his work, aestheticism took precedence over realism. Each of his works, had a soul.
There were times when he could not bring life to his paintings.
He would then look at the fish - her eyes with the unspoken faith in his art ; the agility in her movements that would inspire him to revive his work..He'd then get his elan!

The fish had seen the room as her world. SHe had seen the painter as her only accomplice. She knew the Painter doted on her. She would look at him intensly involved in his work, from inside the jar. They would never talk to each other - ofcourse, how can a fish talk? She was never coached for the same. But still, she felt there was a passion between them.

There were times when she had seen him a little ruffled. And then the next moment she had seen him come close to her and touch her with his fingertips forming an impression on the glass. His fingertip would chase her if she would move a little. He was chasing her, but still there was so much independence. Although it was just a simple look from him, she'd feel like she was soaked not in water, but in the fervor of his love.

They were each other's consort - to say the least.

One day, the painter fell ill. He thought he could not take care of the gold fish anymore.
So he decided to part with her.

It hurt him. It made him sick. But he knew he had to do it, else the fish would die.

The fish cried. But her tears were mixed with water and could not be seen.
The fish yelled. But her screams drowned deep in the jar, just like her dreams..her life.

The fact remained - She was all, but a fish. And she was not coached to rebel. She was not coached to question.

What should the fish do?

:-(

Can a rebel be "coached" ? Then what is the rebellion about ?

1. She lived in a glass jar, kept in the corner of the room of a painter.
The fish thought that the Glass Jar and the room is the world. She didnt get a chance ( or bother to ) see the world.

2. There were times when he could not bring life to his paintings. He would then look at the fish - her eyes with the unspoken faith in his art.
He was not a successful painter. He was so poor that sometimes he couldnt afford to have even one meal a day. He thought of frying the fish and eating it!!! But he was sympathetic to the fish.

3. She was never coached for the same. But still, she felt there was a passion between them.
This fish is really paranoid. The painter should have eaten the fish.

4. The fish cried. But her tears were mixed with water and could not be seen.
So fish tears are transparent..hmm.

5. But her screams drowned deep in the jar, just like her dreams..her life.
The problem is with physics. Someone update me about speed of sound in water, glass and air please.

6. What should the fish do?
The fish should see the movie "Finding Nemo"

Thanks for blogging again... and take care.

Hello ji!
Jgd!
Its a nice story! Well the story can be interpeted in real life too..
Here is the fish that loves her owner and even the same case with the painter.. But now painter gets ill ... and may be he is gonna die... what will happen to the fish??
At real world we can take as... case of parents and son... father loves the kid much..but due taking over care of him ..he never lets his son to do what he wants... or fails to know what real world is ? but now father is going to die but now he is tansed what wd happen to my son? And now son also knows he has to live in the world what he can do???(same here with fish) so son has to accept the ppl and situations as they are and have to fight with the real world come what may!
Or otherwise this can be story of a couple in which each love other half much.. but now due to deadly dieses the husbund/wife is going to die? And other is tansed and feels that otherone is not capable of handling world enough... may be.. this is what i interpet...
I think this is not just a story but its something related to some one! If so may God bless/help...

But if the story is of fish only then fish has to pray God to help her to get help or make her painter well again! In real world fish can be interpeted as a person who knows something but hasnt given rights or doesnt know how to rise questions and fight for his/her good ness!
Thanks for questioning and making my mind word for a while...
regards!

the fish should live life with the new owner, however if she is keen on "one life-one love" then she should pop out of the jar at the time of hand over and pretend to suffocate to death till the original owner would put her back in the jar...
continue to do this everytime the owner would think of disposing her...............

I came to your blog through Kapil yesterday. Very impressive post, I must say. Very different and philosophical.

Well to answer your question, fish should just accept reality. Change is the only constant in life and although we may tend to think that fish in a small jar may not face with much changes in life, you never know what life has in store for you.

You know it's like we may think that our life is running so smoothly and all that but there can come a time when everything may change, just like that.

This fish may survive too, in a new enviournment and may find new set of friends. Maybe she will be placed in an aquarium and may find herself with a bunch of new friends...who knows what's in store for this fish, hopefully something good...:))

i bet, a fish so nice would get a really good owner to take care of her/him.

life's better when you take things as they come. maybe its the fish's chance to explore the world this time.

ofcourse the fish should watch finding nemo too.

The fish should sing, "Never cared for what they do, never cared for what they know, but I knowwwwww!" and learn to play that guitar solo so that it learns to vent out all the frustration. :D

rock on!
